Erin, Brad and Quinn - I am so happy for you all. I've followed your loooong wait through Margy and now it's almost time! Lilah is a real beauty.
Our daughter Lydia (adopted in 1998, now a thriving 7th grader) is from nearby Nanchang, which you are very likely to fly in to. Nice city -- We were just there in March, and enjoyed showing Lydia her birthplace. I'd predict that Quinn will have a great time in China. We also returned to the famed White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou, which you'll also probably get to enjoy - waterfalls in the lobby, sumptuous breakfast buffet and 2 swimming pools!
I read two lovely books while in China this trip that you might enjoy before or during your trip: Wuhu Diary is the story of a mom bringing her 5-year-old back to live in China for a few months. Oracle Bones is a beautiful combination of history with contemporary commentary. And if you want something light, Nicole Mones is an American who writes contemporary romances set in China - The Last Chinese Chef and Lost in Translation (not related to the movie).
I'm sure you have many resources for planning, but don't hesitate to give me a call: 253-756-1766, juliagarnett@harbornet.com.
We have been happily married for almost 9 years and have one son, Quinn who recently turned 7.
We also have a cat, "Blizzard" and a crazy dog, "Chaz" and are anxiously awaiting the last addition to our family...Quinn's little sis.
Congratulations all! She is very cute and we can't wait to meet our new cousin
